The Amalfi trip.

Ok so this post is a little late, but way back in May, myself, my husband Tom and 4 other friends made our way out to Italy. We spent 3 nights in Capri before heading to Sorrento for a wedding. It was a week of pure indulgence, we ate so much white pasta, pizza, bread, gelato - not to mention gin and Italy's standard triple measures...! Every meal generally was 2/3 courses, as well as bread - it was a helluva week, needless to say i started a 3 day Juice detox once back.

In Capri we stayed at the Best Western Syrene, which was such a lovely hotel. It was quite traditional Italian, and felt quite family run, it was very clean and all the rooms had the dreamiest floor tiles - winner in my eyes, and for anyone not wanting to splash out too much but still wanting to stay on the island, we would 100% recommend.

I organised a boat trip with http://www.giannisboat.com/ which was the best. The guide took us out for 3 hours and showed us all the beautiful grotto's and coastline. The boat was so comfortable, which was just as well for our hungover, drowsy on seasick tablet states.

The famous Blue Grotto

We ate lunch up in the lemon groves at a restaurant called Da Paolino, the setting was beautiful and I can imagine it getting very busy in the peak season. It was worth the short inclined walk to get there. Friends of ours also in Italy for the wedding got engaged here! Dreamy!
Probably our favourite restaurant in Capri, and maybe even the whole trip was Aurora - and hey if its good enough for Bey, its good enough for us ;-) The restaurant was busy, so i'd recommend booking, but the vibe was good, the food was amazing and we left when they kicked us out - always a good sign.

On our last day in Capri we headed up on the cable car that takes you up to the top of Mount Solaro, its definitely not as scary as you think its going to be and the views at the top, as well as the gelato shop are well worth it.

We then spent the next 5 nights in Sorrento, taking day trips to Pompeii and Positano. Positano was lovely. We took the public bus there which was VERY windy, be warned in your suffer with travel sickness or are hungover. The combo was not a good one, but once we were there we filled ourselves up in Caffe Positano which served up some of my favourite pasta i'd have in Italy with an amazing view to boots.

As much as I loved our trip to the Amalfi coast, I was super glad to be home eating some fruit and veg - not something I managed to get much of whilst there ;-)
